I am always amazed by the photos you share. I think I agree with you, although I've never reflected on November per se, but as a kid it was a bit of a 'come onnn hurry upppp' month between birthday and Christmas. I grew to deeply dislike Christmas, having no positive memories associated with it whatsoever, so November, to me, means hanging on the thin 'spooky season' thread ignoring all the out-of-place wintery glee.
You're so kind, Barbs! Thank you! ❤ I never reflected on November until the last, maybe two or three years or so? My feelings towards Christmas has shifted a lot, from looking forward to it as a young kid (because it means a holiday and sparkly lights), to questioning all the whys, to not doing anything specific at all. This year is the first year of putting a tree again, but the reasons why are so different now. In general, I don't have the greatest memories associated with Christmas or the holiday season in general, the good ones are there because I made them happen. I think that's why I began to linger more in November as I realized I was 1) wishing time away and 2) it's still part of my favorite season and I feel most myself when I get to sit on that "thin spooky season" thread as well. 😊 Thank you for sharing a tiny glimpse into your world, my love! I can't recall if I ever commented on your profile photo, but I ADORE IT!! 🎃✨
So this is the year of the tree?? I'm happy to hear you're reclaiming Xmas and making it a nice experience for you. If that's a tree, so be it! Once I tried too to make something out of December and I crafted a dingy floating bauble spiral thing. That was enough for me to go "nah" ;) thanks for the compliment !! I was channeling my inner Persephone
Haha it's the year to try and see what the tree has to say and so far...I'm not sure. We've already moved the tree 3 times as it doesn't seem to click in the living room. 😅 It could be the decorations or it simply doesn't click anymore, either way I tried. A floating bauble spiral thingy?! I am so curious here! It sounds like a tiny creature that'd live in a Pokemon world, haha. I don't know a lot about Persephone yet, but I shall google!
I saw, with a quick search, that she’s also the Goddess of Spring! I never knew that! There are a few other goddesses that caught my attention these last few years, Isis, being one of them. An art series with goddesses is on my neverending “to paint” list, not sure when it will happen as it will take a looot of time, because research, but it’d be so fun to capture them in my style. 🤗🎨
I would love to spend an autumn in the northern hemisphere even a year in the northern hemisphere to really experience all four seasons.
Things are heating up down here the humidity can get you down and I try and imagine what it would be like to go into winter for the end of year festivities. But your descriptions of autumn and slowing down are beautiful. Thank you
Hii Ruthie! That makes me so happy, thank you!! 🥰❤ I do hope you get to experience the variety in seasons one way or the other in the near future! It's what I've known for my entire life, though the seasons in the Netherlands are quite mild. Proper snow days don't happen too often anymore and our weather lingers between rain & wind aka cold humid days, haha. I'm honestly sooo curious how it feels to experience the holiday season during a warmer season, but I do hope the humidity won't cling as much to you as I know that feeling isn't the best at all! Thank you for reading this musing and for letting your imagination wander around a bit. ✨🍂🤗
I am loving all the essays on the beauty of November, all the ways one can embrace this month, the in-between time, the darker hours and turning inward. This 11th month has much to offer.
Same! I enjoyed reading several on here and it's amazing to see how people move through this quiet month. I never consiously realized how November is the 11th month, which gives me another reason to love it even more, haha. Thank you for twirling by, lovely Kate! ❤✨
👋 Hello my dear friend!!! Thank you for providing yet another amazingly wonderful and comforting musing this month!🍁✨️🧡 Definitely feeling all the fall vibes through all the beautiful photos too... wishing I could be there to collect pretty leaves along side you! 🤗🍁🍂 Enjoy all the cozy weather to come!🍵🧡💛
Hiii my sweet friend 👋🧡 Thank you so so much for reading these words! I so appreciate it 🤗 We'd have so much fun collecting the leaves and then go for a warm drink and baked goodie afterwards! 🥰🍂🍵 The weather has been a lot warmer this year as last year it started with buckets of rain and I only know this because I wrote a little caption for November back then, haha. I hope the weather continues to behave a bit more as it does feel a lot more cozy when it eases into the colder weather and not just straight up rain and wind and poodle hair from the start, hehe. ✨🤭🎃🍂
I felt myself slow down and the world become quieter just by reading this. I loved the imagery and the embodied feeling of soft golden hues. Despite being in spring, it was so delightful to read this 🧡
Ohh that is one of the biggest compliments, my love, thank you 🥰 I honestly feel like I'm surrounded by a golden soft hue the moment Autumn enters my world, it's one of my most favorite colors to use in my art as well. I just realized this and maybe that's another reason I feel so connected to this season? I hope Spring is bringing you wonderfully cozy new beginnings as the world around you comes back to life with delicate blooms and luscious greens. 🌸🍃✨

Please google, I feel like you might like the idea (not of the Stockholm's syndrome, just the vague concept of the goddess)

<3 That would be so cool to see!! And yes, lost of research but imagine the iconographic possiblitiesssss

That makes so much sense now that you say that, as I do see such autumnal colours in your art. So beautiful, you must be loving this time of year.
Thank you so so much! That’s so sweet ☺️
I think you’re not alone in how you’re feeling.
Thank you for showing up and sharing what’s going on in your world. xx
Aww thank you, Mika! I so appreciate you saying that and for twirling by my little world! 🥰 Hope you're having a wonderful day! xx
