I loved reading this as a fellow lover of Autumn, although I don't get the full effect anymore living in Thailand. I do miss the changing of the leaves and the cool breeze, the layering of clothes and all things pumpkin and Autumn spices.

Ohh of course! The weather is so different in Thailand! As much as I want to experience living in e.g. Thailand or Bali for a while, I know I'd miss Autumn so much. I've actually no idea for how long you've been in Thailand now, how long did it take you to get used to Thai weather and no autumn vibes? 🧡

I've been here 8.5 years now 🫣 though I have been home for an autumn season here and there. We get a little bit of it here in Northern Thailand when the weather cools down, but not nearly as intense as in Canada (and the Netherlands).

It took me a while to get used to it, but now my body is so acclimated that I do end up wearing wintery clothes in the colder months 🤣

8.5 years! Ohhh time and it's fluid and mysterious ways, haha. I've been living in my current apartment with my sister for 10 years this years, something I didn't expect to happen either and I've been feeling that a change has to happen with this eventually as well.

It's amazing you've been there for that long though! Do you speak the language as well? Even though Thailand has been popping up in my reality, I haven't properly look into this country yet and I've no idea how nature behaves there, haha. Like are there trees that change color? How cold is cold there? Can you wear layers and a scarf?? I'm so curious, I really have to sit down and do some googling 😂🧡

Time really is so fluid and mysterious! Wow! 10 years. That's amazing!

I do speak, read, and write the language—not completely fluently, but enough to get by.

There are trees that change colour (in the north at least) and it gets a little chilly up in the mountains. In the south it stays hot all year round. Right now we're experiencing monsoon season, and a lot of the areas around me are actually flooding now 😭 it's the worst it's been in a long time. But after monsoon season comes cool weather—the nights will sometimes get down to single digits, and with no heating systems it feels quite cold!

Such a beautiful, cosy read TJ 🤎 Your love of autumn is rubbing off of on me 🍂 I used to struggle a lot in September, knowing that the darkness was on its way once again, but in the last couple of years I’ve really started to lean into those cosy feelings.

I am looking forward to my darling friend's wedding tomorrow. I am honoured to be singing at it. I'm so excited that our old school group will be reunited and create some gorgeous new memories together.

You have evoked autumn beautifully. I have mixed feeling about entering the darker seasons. Especially on grey and rainy days like today! But I'm very much hoping to tune into the beauty of autumn and winter this year. You've done that well.

Hello Janelle! 👋 Ohhh you're going to sing at your friend's wedding and reunite with old school friends??? How incredibly magical is that! I hope you have the most beautiful day and all the love and warm wishes to your friend as well. 💕🕊

Thank you so much for your lovely note as well. 🤗 It became a little quest for myself to find the beauty hiding in the things that at first glance only seem to deprived of what could make us feel lighter and happier. But on very grey & rainy days, it can still be a bit tricky for me as well, haha. I do hope you'll be able to tune into the hidden beauty of the upcoming seasons, it's quite special when you can begin to collect a few threads of magic for yourself. 🥰💕

You've so beautifully captured the slow settling of autumn. I was musing this morning how much more I appreciate and relish the dimness of autumn and winter, now that I'm older, as I switched on my twinkle lights in the kitchen in the early morning. The bright light of summer is invigorating, to be sure, but it is a different energy. Quicker, like we must get out of the house as quickly as possible to enjoy it all. Autumn bids us come slowly, at our own pace. Thanks for this lovely snippet of appreciation for the golden season!

Hi Krissy! Aww thank you so much for your wonderful comment, lovely! 🥰 I so resonate with how the bright light in summer brings out an urgency in people, especially these last few years. It could be the shift in how people feel they have to experience life now, after 2020, but I will say I did already feel the urgency before that, it was only expressed through different things, like the rise of travel influencers etc. Now, a slight rise in temperature makes people feel they have to do allll the things, especially in the Netherlands, where I live, and the weather is wishy-washy, haha.

Twinkle lights sounds so magical!! They are perfect for cozy mornings! 🤗✨🍂

Indeed, after 2020, and I understand the wishy-washy weather, as well! I also live in an area lots of people travel to, and we are considered a rain forest (which I didn't know upon moving here.) I have to temper my emotions when the sun is shining brightly, take stock of the day, and then move forward, in order to not be constantly swayed by that urgency! But truly, such a lovely post. I'd love to give it another read.

Ohh yes to taking stock of the day and how to move forward! I've been doing this so much myself lately as it's way too easy for me to want to do way too much, haha. I'm so happy that you loved the post so much, thank you for your wonderful words, my love. 🥰🧡

Love this! I’m looking forward to relaxing on holiday (currently), being by the ocean and, when I get home, putting up all my autumn decorations to really get ready for the season. 🍂
